The Alliance is creating Housing Voters and future advocates for housing and homelessness by connecting citizens to their government during this vital election.

Engaging voters takes more than simply setting registration forms on the front desk. Creating informed voters requires combining registration with voter education, mobilization, support, and encouragement to hold elected officials accountable. It takes Voterization!

The Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and our community partners throughout Washington are teaming up to get low income and homeless Washington citizens registered, educated, and voting! To kick-start this effort, we are a hosting trainings in three counties to learn about Voterization 2008, a program of the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

The training will provide the education and tools needed to coordinate a successful voter registration and mobilization campaign. Attendees will receive a comprehensive training about the ins and outs of non-profit voter registration from Jake Kirsch of the National Coalition, the rules and regulations for each county by representatives of the elections department, and will learn how the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance will be coordinating and supporting efforts throughout the state.
