I received a grant from the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance that enabled me to attend the 2014 Conference on Ending Homelessness in Yakima, Washington. As a homeless person, I did not have the financial resources to attend on my own. So I was very excited when I received the acceptance email from the Housing Alliance.

It's Mother's Day on Sunday, and I know I have a lot to thank my mom for. My parents faced a lot of challenges when I was growing up, but I realize that I am incredibly lucky that keeping a roof over our heads wasn't one of them.

This past week, the Housing Alliance received some great news from the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle/King County (HDC). During their 6th Annual Luncheon, HDC awarded the Housing Alliance two out of the three Emerging Leader Awards. Housing Alliance board president Nicole Macri and Communication Specialist Joaquin Uy were both each honored with a Housing Development Consortium Emerging Leader Award 2014.
